Confusion

Ann Assign
I remember when I was in Harare. I was supposed to go to a place which would take about 45 minutes. As I did not know well the city I decided to ask my friend. In the city where I was there were many community buses. Thus, we decided to ask the driver if he could drop us at the place we were going. The bus was not going exactly at the place, but it passes along it. My friend also did not know well the place. The conductor accepted to show us the place and reminder us on the way. Then, we got in. On the way I felt that there was soothing wrong. However, 30 minutes later. Then I asked my friend if we were not supposed to go through the north direction. Thus, we decided to ask the conductor, and he said we were in the wrong bus going to the wrong place. They drop us on the bush. In that place there were no people and houses. Then, we had to ask for a ride to go back where we were. Another confusion happened with my brother when he was in grade one. We did not used to accompany hum to school very often. Then, one day after the he had finished his classes, he called a cab. Then, the driver asked him, where he wanted to go. He gave him our home address. When they reached home, the cab driver asked for money. He did not have any money. The cab driver was so angry that they had to call my mother. My mother was also embarrassed with my brother. However, we had to pay the bill. We understood him because he was only five years.

My good and bad memories in U.S

Ann assign
I have so many good and bad memories from U.S especially from Carbondale. However, I do not usually feel comfortable talking about them. The world has bad and good things life too. My bad memory is when I had to see with my own eyes the consequences of aggression and abuse. Before I moved to where I’m living now I used to live in quite place. I had a neighbor a young girl. The girl used to be abused by most of the guys in the building. At the end of a day they would hit her. I hate violence and I cannot tolerate it. I cannot watch it even from TV, it makes me so sad and I feel emotional pain whenever I watch it. These things at times make me to desire to go to a place far from the earth where there will not be pain and suffering. Is part of life there is nothing we can do to change it. Besides that, I have another bad memory. When I come to US for the first time I got lost. I got into the wrong plan and I went to the wrong place at the wrong time. I was not more concerned about getting lost but about the person who was waiting for me at the airport. The person who was waiting for me never gave up until I arrived. Besides that, when I came from Africa last December, I lost two flights. The first one in Washington because I and some people from the same plane were taken to the wrong gate. Then after all of us had gotten in the plane the pilot got serious seek. Thus, an ambulance was called. The worst part is that I had to connect again an hour later. It took us more than 45 minutes waiting for the other pilot to arrive. Thus, I lost the second flight.

My fears and anxious

Ann’s Assign
I had so many things that made nervous and also anxious at times. I’ m usually anxious about things that have to do with my education. For instance, before I wrote my A levels exams I used to be very anxious although I was a little confident. One of the things that made me to behave land think like that is my parents. My parents are very strict and most of the times they do not tolerate mistakes. Is still remembering when I was in primary school. I whenever I could understand anything I could ask my father. Before I asked the questions so that he would help me. He used to first ask me why it that you do not know is. Then after answering the question he would use a piece of wood to beat me. He used to teach me while I’m crying. In addition, to that whenever I could score a low score he I had no right to have new cloths and whatever I liked to play with. What makes me nervous I to be in a new place. A place where I had never been. I’m used to be with sisters, brothers, cousins, untie uncle and my friends. However, a new place makes me nervous, because I know that I will be alone most of the times. Besides that, to be in a different culture from yours is really difficult. Most of the times you might think that you are doing the right or good things to people while you are hurt them. At times you do not know what to say or things to in the right moment. Thereby, being with people from different cultures from mine is difficult and makes very nervous.

Valentine’s Day

Ann’s Asign

I have had a lot about Valentine’s Day through TV and radio programs. However, I have never come to understand the real meaning of it. As this day is not as popular as it is here. Where people give gifts and say love words to their lovers. This day does not mean a lot to many people. To the extent that few people know about this day, and the importance of this day to couples and to the rest of the population. Most of Africans believe that you can express your love or show how much you love your partner by treating him/her well. Besides that, by telling him/her love words, by respecting and have consideration for them. All these things motioned above must be practiced every day for ever until the death separates them. We don’t have an expecific day to celebrate Valentine’s Day. As this day is celebrated every day by each couple. However, in some places in the southern part of Africa, like in Swaziland, this day is very important. During this day many Swaziland restaurants offer special discount to the first ten or twenty couples. Besides discounts they also offer some gifts to them. TV programs have also some special programs, where many couples are invited to participate. They also have games where they separate the couples and each person is asked some personal questions. By asking them, they will be finding out how much they know each other. Other TV programs offer gifts to the winner to go overseas with everything paid from the hotel, meals and they are given some money to spend in cloths and jewelry. Besides that, romantic musicians are invited to perform. Some church programs also organize wedding parties where they will pay everything including the gown and the rings. However, they only do that to couples who do not have conditions to have a wedding party, but love each other. That is the way few countries in Africa celebrate this day.

Things about my country

Ann’s Assign
I believe that many that most of American and some Europeans think that in Africa there is no modern buildings but only houses made of bungalow or huts which is not true. I remember that when my aunt was about to come back to Africa from England her friends asked her if she was sure about going back to her country in Africa, because she was to staying in a modern house. Besides that, some people believe that is very common to see lions, rhinos and elephants in the streets. That is why they think that is not a secure place to visit or to live. However, I think that they are right to believe in that because they have never been there, they only hear from others peoples’ comments. Many people in my country believe that all Americans have guns, but by the time I come I realized that it was not true. Is common to hear in my country that lions attacked a village, but these villages are those villages built near savannas and forests where most of lions live. One of the truths about Africans is that many Africans value their traditions and believe in ancestors. They like to do ceremonies to remember the dead believing that in the ceremonies day the dead will be there. Africa is full of nature and many places have not already been explored. However it does not mean that people and wild animals share the same places. It is an organized with modern buildings. Is a secure place where people walk freely in the streets. There are nice places where the majority of reach and some middle people live and there is also places for those who cannot afford to live in the reach’s’ places.
